Job Description

The Quincy Institute (QI) is seeking a reporter with a high degree of motivation and initiative for its online magazine, Responsible Statecraft. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with a demonstrated ability to break news that can drive the foreign-policy conversation and shine a light on the forces and ideologies that have mired the United States in endless wars. The reporter will work closely with RS’s editorial team to explore unique ways in which RS can expose corruption and hypocrisy in the military industrial complex, as well as on Capitol Hill and the federal government. The reporter will write about the issues that are important to Americans outside the Beltway, too, including military families and veterans, and the economic and health impacts of war on local communities. The reporter will also be expected to cover federal elections as they intersect with foreign policy, and respond to breaking news.

Our reporter will also assist with daily social media and publishing tasks as needed.

Candidates must be dedicated to advancing the mission, vision, and principles of military restraint, and committed to transpartisanship, journalistic integrity, and professionalism. The person selected for this position will report to the Editor-in-Chief and the Managing Editor of Responsible Statecraft. This is a paid, full-time position, based in Washington, D.C. Candidates will be expected to be in person three days per week, though schedules are flexible.
